Children with CAS often present as being unable to produce sounds, or having poorly intelligible speech, which decreases as their sentences get longer and the demands on the motor planning system increase.
These children often have normal comprehension, but poor expressive language.
They may exhibit groping or searing movements with their mouths when trying to produce a word.
Some children with CAS also have oral or motor dyspraxia as well.
